Lupin launches generic version of Celebrex in US market

Drug firm Lupin has launched in the US market the generic version of Celebrex capsules used for treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and acute pain.

"Its US subsidiary, Lupin Pharmaceuticals has launched the authorised generic for GD Searle LLC's (a subsidiary of Pfizer) Celebrex capsules of strength of 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg and 400 mg", the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Lupin had earlier signed a licensing agreement with Pfizer for Celebrex, which has an annual sales of $2.54 billion in US market, it added.

The Company is a significant player in cardiovascular, diabetology, asthma, pediatric, CNS, GI, anti-infective and NSAID space and holds global leadership positions in the Anti-TB and Cephalosporin segment.

Lupin is the 5th largest and fastest growing top 5 generics player in the US and the 3rd largest Indian pharmaceutical company by sales.
