Transporters raise freight rates on diesel hike

Freight rates for 10 tonne load zoomed by up to Rs 3,000 in the local truck transport market on Friday after the government hiked diesel prices by a steep Rs 5.63 per litre on Thursday.

Delhi to Bangalore, Mysore and Kochi rates gained Rs 3,000 each to Rs 65,000, Rs 69,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively.

Rates to Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai went up by Rs 2,000 each to Rs 30,000, Rs 65,000 and Rs 28,000, respectively.

Gwalior, Jaipur and Chandigarh rates too rose by Rs 1,000 each at Rs 10,000, Rs 12,000 and Rs 14,000, respectively.
