Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the love story starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, is continuing its golden run at the box office for the second week running.
After a
bumper opening of Rs 19.45 crore in the country, an opening weekend of a whopping Rs 62.11 crore and among the fastest movies to
cross the Rs 100-crore mark within the first week of release, 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is
still running to packed houses across the country.
The movie has collected over Rs 135 crore in the 10 days since its release. The second weekend collections for 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' alone stood at Rs 28.25 crore - next only after Aamir Khan-starrer '3 Idiots' (Rs 33 crore).
Going by the trends in box office collections, the Ayan Mukherji-directed movie is all set to surpass the business of Salmaan Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer 'Ek The Tiger'.
According to Boxofficeindia analysts, the film is expected to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in its second week - a 55 per cent drop in collections compared to the first week as Deols-starrer
'Yamla Pagla Deewana' eats into some profits.
However, they are hopeful of recovery in the third week, since a relatively less competitive 'Fukhrey' releases at the box office.
Trade pundits at the film trade magazine say the movie should be able to collect between Rs 172 crore and Rs 173 crore at the least after three weeks, and then be in line to go past Ek Tha Tiger's Rs 186 crore nett total.
If the film holds strong during the third week, film industry experts say the
movie could even challenge the record figure of Rs 200 crore set by '3 Idiots'.
'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is produced by Karan Johar and also stars Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in the heartwarming story about family, friends and love.
