Apple 9.7 inch iPad Pro goes on sale in India

Apple iPad Pro 9.7, announced during an Apple keynote in Cupertino last month, will be available for sale in India starting Thursday. The tablet went on sale in a few select countries on March 31 and is coming to India in the second wave with the starting price of Rs 49,900.

The 9.7inch iPad Pro will be available in three storage variants - 32GB, 128GB and 256GB and each will come in WiFi and WiFi + cellular option. The 16GB WiFi only variant is priced at Rs 49,900 whereas the WiFi + Cellular variant will cost Rs 61,900.

The 128 GB and 256 GB WiFi only cost Rs 61,900 and Rs 73,900 respectively, and the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB and 256GB storage variants will cost Rs 73,900 and Rs 85,900, respectively.

Apple has also launched the accessories for the new iPad. The Apple Pencil has been priced at Rs 8,600, the Smart Keyboard Case for Rs 13,900, Smart Cover will be available for Rs 3,900 and the Silicone cases will be sold for Rs 5,200.

None of the accessories are bundled in the box, and need to be purchased separately.

Apple has also launched some other accessories including Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader for Rs 2,500, Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter for Rs 2,900, Lightning to USB-C Cable for Rs 2,300, Lightning to USB-C Cable (2 meters) for Rs 2,900 and the 29W USB-C Power Adapter for Rs 4,100.The 9.7inch iPad Pro boasts the latest specifications similar to 12.9inch iPad Pro. It packs in a 9.7inch 'True Tone Display', which measures the ambient light and adjusts the colour temperature accordingly.  

This new display is 40 per cent less reflective over the iPad 2 and is 25 times brighter too. It packs in Apple's latest A9X processor, which is paired with M9 motion co-processor and 4GB of RAM.

The new iPad also comes with support for Apple Pencil and has a new Smart Keyboard cover designed to fit the tablet. It boasts a 12MP iSight camera with 4k video recording and LED flash over the 8MP iSight camera on the 12.9inch iPad Pro. It runs on iOS 9.3 operating system and the connectivity options onboard include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 4G LTE.

The 4inch 9.7inch iPad Pro will go on sale in India on April 8 with a starting price of Rs 39,000 for the 16GB variant and Rs 49,000 for 64GB.
