Smartphone buyers looking at the premium segment often have to choose between paying more for storage or settling for a lower-priced model with compromises elsewhere. But OPPO could be preparing an option that changes the entry point of the series.

A new storage configuration is reportedly in the works for India, while OPPO is said to be preparing another smartphone series. If these plans materialise, buyers could have more choice, although the lower-storage model may face competition from OPPO’s older device.

OPPO Reno 16 8GB+128GB variant tipped

Tipster Sanju Choudhary on X has claimed that OPPO could soon launch an 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the Reno 16 5G in India. The tipster has suggested a price of around ₹60,000-62,000, which would make it cheaper than the existing 8GB+256GB model priced at ₹66,999. The 12GB+256GB variant is priced at Rs 72,999.

The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

For photography, the phone has three 50MP rear cameras, including a primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. The front camera is also a 50MP sensor. Both front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 4K 60fps.

F35 series also tipped

The same tipster has claimed that OPPO is preparing its F35 series for launch soon. However, there is currently no confirmed launch date or specifications for the upcoming phones.

The Reno 16 packs a 6,700mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC charging, carries an IP69K rating and runs ColorOS 16 based on Android.

At around ₹60,000, the proposed Reno 16 variant would also compete with OPPO’s Reno 15 Pro Mini, which starts at ₹59,999 for 12GB+256GB. The older model offers more RAM and storage, a Dimensity 8450 chipset, a 200MP main camera and a 6,200mAh battery with 80W charging.

For you as a buyer, the final price will therefore be important, particularly because 128GB of storage may feel limited at this price point.
