Reliance launches 3G in 4 cities

Almost a month after Tata Docomo officially launched its 3G services, now Reliance Communications has announced the launched of 3G services for its customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh.

Almost a month after Tata Docomo officially launched its 3G services, now Reliance Communications has announced the launched of 3G services for its customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. With the 3G license for 13 circles in hand, the company plans to roll-out the services by March 2011. The company is targeting a national footprint of Reliance 3G services through associations with other like minded, quality 3G licensees in the balance 9 telecom circles during the course of next year.

Reliance 3G will offer a bouquet of services including video calling, Mobile TV, Video streaming and applications on superfast speed. For this, the company has tied up with Nokia for devices; Facebook, Nokia and Ericsson for applications; Universal Music for content and Motricity for the Web Portal.

"The launch of Reliance 3G is an integral part of our Vision 2015 of creating a "Wirefree India" built upon the 'affordable 3G for All' platform. Personalization of services, simplification of Tariffs and a  Content Rich Portfolio on the 'Best in Class' 3G Wireless Network will enable Reliance customers to get a much superior 3G service experience, significantly differentiated from others in the marketplace ",  said Syed Safawi, CEO - Wireless Business, Reliance Communications.  

With applications available for as less as Re 1 on the application store, there are various data plans offered for pre-paid and post-paid subscribers. There are various monthly data plans varying from Rs 100 for 100 MB, Rs 399 for 500 MB, Rs 649 for 1GB, Rs 899 for 3GB, Rs 1,499 for 10 GB and Rs 2,100 for 21GB. Apart from a single channel, Mobile TV is also available in packs of up to 15 channels with a daily and monthly rental of Rs 25 and Rs 150 respectively. Unfortunately, video calls are not accessible on Reliance 3G as the company awaits approval from the government.
