Redmi K40 has appeared on Geekbanch ahead of its February 25 launch. Two new model numbers of the phone M2012K11AC and M2012K11C have been spotted on Geekbench benchmarking which may belong to the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro smartphones. While the Pro Model is tipped to come with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 888 SoC, the Redmi K40 might pack a Snapdragon 870 processor. This is Qualcomm's affordable chipset for 2021 premium smartphones and comes as an upgrade on the Snapdragon 865 series.
On Geekbench, the Redmi K40 has appeared with its M2012K11AC model number and 'alioth' codename. The listing reveals that it is a 1.80GHz Qualcomm processor. The smartphone is also tipped to come with 8 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. The device has scored 1016 points in the single-core test and recorded a score of 3332 in the multi-core test.
The smartphone was earlier spotted on TENAA which gave an idea about the design of the smartphone. The Redmi K40 is expected to come with a similar design language as the Mi 11 with an elongated camera module at the back. On the front, both the K40 and K40 Pro will feature 6.81-inch AMOLED displays with 1440 x 3200 pixels resolution and a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera.
We previously reported that the K40 and K40 Pro will come with E4 luminous Material, the same panel that was used on the flagship Xiaomi Mi 11. A freshly leaked poster has confirmed the same. A leaked poster of the smartphones has hinted that they can feature displays with 120Hz refresh rate. The K40 phones may also get in-display fingerprint scanners for authentication.
We expect the K40 and K40 Pro to ship in 8GB and 128GB storage plus 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variants. The K40 phones will feature three rear cameras as revealed by the poster on Weibo. The teaser showcases a pill shaped camera module housing two big lens cutouts, one smaller lens hole, a flash and a small opening which supposedly is for laser autofocus sensor.
The K40 phones will get 4420 mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. They should run MIUI 12 based on Android 11.
