
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined India’s climate and clean-energy efforts, saying the country has consistently strengthened and met its climate commitments. She highlighted the rapid expansion of solar energy, including rooftop systems that allow households to generate power and potentially earn from surplus electricity fed into the grid. Sitharaman also pointed to solar pumps for farmers, solar-powered crop storage, green hydrogen and ammonia, battery research and advanced energy storage. She highlighted India’s move toward enabling small modular nuclear reactors, while also discussing support for carbon credits and greener industrial production, including the steel sector.
