Mumbai Metro Line 7A is facing a potential ₹250–260 crore public loss over a design and planning lapse near Airport Colony station in Vile Parle East. The issue involves the height of the overhead electrification system and elevated viaduct, which MMRDA says may exceed aviation safety limits by around 2.5 metres in the airport’s critical air funnel zone. Construction on the affected section has remained halted since 2025 as authorities seek clarity from the Airports Authority of India. If height relaxation is denied, nearly one kilometre of viaduct could require reconstruction. The 3.4-km Metro 7A, already delayed, connects Andheri East with Mumbai airport and Metro Line 3.
