Sunil Bharti Mittal has outlined a long-term succession vision for Bharti Airtel, saying he hopes to hand over the reins of the telecom giant to the next generation within the coming decade. Speaking during the company’s earnings concall, Mittal also said he wants promoter entity Bharti Telecom to once again cross the 50 per cent ownership mark in Airtel, restoring the controlling shareholding it historically held for years. Reappointed as chairman until 2031, Mittal said regaining a 51 per cent stake would be a major but important task for a company of Airtel’s scale. The comments offer a rare glimpse into the future leadership and ownership roadmap of one of India’s largest telecom companies.
