Bollywood channel promises to bring desi entertainment to Germany

Indians living in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and other German towns can get a dose of desi entertainment thanks to a new Bollywood channel.

India's leading media conglomerate, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) on Friday announced the launch of Zee.One, its dedicated movie channel for the German market.

ZEEL already exists in over 100 countries and the entry into the German market is crucial to the firm's global strategy.

"The launch of Zee.One in Germany is a step further as part of our international expansion strategy. We want to establish a lasting presence and of course, grow in the German television market," said Amit Goenka, CEO - International Broadcast Business.

The channel's content will be specifically adapted for the German market. Most of the content will be premiering on German television and will be broadcast in HD.

"From today, the German TV landscape will be enriched by a unique, new channel, Zee.One. We want to entertain our viewers with the best of films, series, and music," Friederike Behrends, CEO - Asia TV GmbH (Zee TV), said.

ZEE's well-known brands include Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Zee Cafe, Zee Studio, Zing, ETC Bollywood and others .

Actor Shah Rukh Khan was also present at the launch of the channel.
