Picture for representation purpose only. Source: ReutersNasscom President R Chandrashekhar said on Thursday thet the Indian information technology (IT) sector is expected to log six per cent growth in its hiring rate.
The current employee strength in the sector is around 3.5 million.
Speaking at the Nasscom HR Summit in Chennai, Chandrashekar said the IT industry is moving towards digital era and India is considered as a leader in this field when it comes to talent availability.
He further said, "it is the human resource that runs companies and not machines".
He said what is important is how the workforce is managed as it is they who make a difference for an enterprise.
According to him 75 per cent of the workforce in ten years time would comprise of people who entered the job market post 2000 or born post 1980.
Chandrashekar said the challenges before HR managers are to build leadership pool out of new recruits and also engaging with those employees who have been around for some time.
