Ruling out the possibility of disinvestment in state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in the near future, Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot on Monday said the government's priority at present is to get the company out of the losses.
"There was no disinvestment going on in BSNL and we are working towards strengthening its financial condition, so that it can make up its earlier losses," Pilot told reporters on the sidelines of a function.
"In this company, any step of disinvestment will only be taken after taking the consent of lakhs of its employees," he added. "We want that whenever BSNL's disinvestment takes place, it should get the highest value so that common people get benefit out of it."
Terming the demand of a JPC inquiry into the 2G spectrum allocation scam as unreasonable, Pilot said the government has already handed over its probe to the agencies concerned.
He assured that after the probe, those found guilty in the scam, irrespective of their position, will not be spared.
