Redmi K40 may launch in India and other countries as rebranded Poco phone

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K40 series in China on February 25. The company has launched three phones under the Redmi K40 series including the Redmi K40, the Redmi K40 Pro, and the Redmi K40 Pro+. However, now a report has revealed the Xiaomi may not launch the Redmi K40 globally by the same name, it could be launched as a Poco Phone. The model number of the device was spotted with Poco branding on the certification site.

As per a listing on Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) spotted by 91Mobiles, it was hinted that the phone with model number M2012K11AG will be launched as a Poco phone. The model number is associated with Redmi K40. The report suggested that outside of China, the smartphone will not be launched as Redmi K40 but as a Poco phone. Xiaomi is yet to make an announcement about the global launch of the Redmi K40.

The IMDA rising revealed that the phone with model number M2012K11AG will come with 5G support. Now, this is not the first time Xiaomi has rebranded its phones.The popular Poco M2 Pro is a rebranded Redmi Now 9 Pro.

Redmi K40 specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, Redmi K40 features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ with a resolution of 1,080x2,400 pixels. It also comes with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

In terms of the camera, the Redmi K40 features a quad-camera setup on the rear. The camera island comprises a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, an ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, you would get a 20-megapixel sensor for selfies.

For connectivity, the Redmi K40 includes support for 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Infrared (IR), and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone houses a 4,520mAh battery that comes with support for 33W fast charging.

Redmi K40 price

The Redmi K40 was launched in China for CNY 1,999 (approx Rs 22,400) for the 6GB+128GB model. For the 8GB+ 128GB variant, the smartphone is priced at CNY 2,199 (approx Rs 24,700) and for the 8GB_ 256GB variant, the phone costs CNY 2,499 (approx Rs 28.000). The top of the line model 12GB+256GB variant is priced at CNY 2,699 (approx Rs 30,000).
