Photo: ReutersSnapping two-session long losing spree, the S&P BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied over 100 points, while the broader Nifty50 tested its key 8,750 level.
At 09:30 am, the 30-share index was trading at 28,377, up 82.88 points, while broad-based 50-share index was quoting 8,747, up 24.90 points.
"Now, its a matter of time that the Nifty would slide below the recent support level of 8,688 to test 8,640-8,600 levels. On the upside, 8,750-8,790 would be seen as strong resistance levels," said Angel Broking in a research note.
Power Grid stock was the top Sensex gainer and added over 1 per cent on the BSE.
Among Asian markets, China's Shanghai Composite was trading flat, Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained over 100 points, while Japan's Nikkei added 0.32 per cent.
