Oil marketing firms start bio diesel supply at select outlets

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have started supplying bio diesel in some retail outlets in the country including at Delhi, Parliament was informed on Thursday.

OMCs have launched bio diesel supplies in some retail outlets at Delhi, Vijayawada, Haldia and Vizag, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishna told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme is already being implemented by public sector OMCs in the notified states and union territories as per the availability of ethanol, Radhakrishna said. The government vide its notification on June 16, 2015 had permitted use of bio-compressed natural gas (Bio-CNG) in motor vehicles, as an alternate composition of the compressed natural gas (CNG), he added.
