Netflix is all set to roll out its cheaper ad-supported subscription plans to attract new subscribers. It has been reported that it will release a new set of plans at the end of this year to attract more users. The company has been witnessing a decline in its paid subscribers. The growing competition in the market is also giving a tough time to the streaming giant.
Now, in order to capture the market share, Netflix is planning to bring cheaper, ad-supported plans, which will help it to retain the existing users and get new users as well. Earlier, the streaming platform and Microsoft reached an agreement to expand the ad network and its ad-supported plans. Microsoft acknowledged its excitement at being appointed as Netflix's technology and sales partner to support the company's first ad-supported subscription offering in a blog post.
While there has been no official announcement on the pricing of the plans, Netflix did confirm to launch of the budget-friendly packs. The company is in the stages of deciding how to offer a cheaper, ad-supported tier.
If we talk about the current subscriptions offered by Netflix in India, it has plans starting at Rs 149. Along with that it also offers free of cost access to the platform along with select telecom or DTH recharges. Here are the details of all the Netflix plans available in India which can be purchased from its official website and app.
Rs 149 Plan: This mobile plan offered by Netflix includes standard video quality with 480p streaming on a phone or tablet. The plan only allows access to Netflix one device at a time.
Rs 199 Plan: The Basic plan also offers 480p streaming on a phone, tablet, computer or TV restricting the use of one device at a time.
Rs 499 Plan: The standard plan offers 480p streaming on a phone, tablet, computer or TV. Again, the device limit is restricted to one. 1080p streaming across a phone, tablet, computer or TV. The plans support streaming on two devices at one time.
Rs 649 Plan: The Premium plan offers 4K HDR streaming across a phone, tablet, computer or TV. This also supports four devices at one time. While this plan is on the expensive side, it can be affordable for big families and for people who love to binge on high resolution.
