
Addressin a gathering of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Dharmasthala, Karnataka, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted India’s strides towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. She announced that the Union Cabinet has approved measures to ease access to loans for students aspiring to study at India’s top universities, with international campuses soon to be established locally. She also shared plans for three Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, each focusing on distinct areas—agriculture, health, and urban development. Emphasizing agriculture, Sitharaman noted the vast potential of AI to improve soil health and crop yield while blending technology with the traditional wisdom of Indian farmers, promising a future where AI bolsters sustainable and efficient farming practices.
