Realme GT 2 Pro launch date confirmed, here are 5 things we know about Realme's flagship phone

Realme GT 2 Pro launch date is out. The company has confirmed that it is holding an event on December 20 to launch the GT 2 series. Since this is the series we are talking about, Realme may be planning to launch more than one phone, which means there may be a GT 2 phone - the vanilla model - in addition to the GT 2 Pro.

According to a poster shared by Gizmochina, the Realme GT 2 series special event will take place on December 20 and the event will begin at 9.00 am GMT, which translates to 2.30 pm IST the same day. Apart from revealing the launch information, the poster does not give away anything, but we know, for sure, that the GT 2 Pro will be Realme's first high-end flagship phone. So, let us talk about five things that we already know about the GT 2 Pro.

First - Realme has already confirmed that the GT 2 Pro will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which Qualcomm announced recently as its new high-end flagship processor. Other specifications come via rumours and they may or may not be correct.

Second - According to rumours, the Realme GT 2 Pro may also be the company's first phone with 125W fast charging technology, which Realme unveiled last year.

Third - The Realme GT 2 Pro may also be the company's first 1TB storage phone, according to a leaked image of the About phone section.

Fourth - Realme GT 2 Pro may come with an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Quad-HD+ resolution. While we have seen the high refresh rate of 120Hz before, the QHD+ resolution will be a first.

Fifth - If rumours are to be believed, the Realme GT 2 Pro may also be the company's first phone to use the Sony IMX766 sensor in the rear camera system.

While Realme did confirm the GT 2 Pro launch would take place within December, there has been some confusion about the date. Recently, Realme announced December 9 as the date for some GT 2 Pro-related news, but the day passed and nothing substantial came out. And now, this new poster is nowhere to be found across Realme websites and social media handles, so take the information about the launch date with a grain of salt.

Realme's GT 2 Pro will take on the Motorola Moto Edge X30, which became the world's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered phone, and the Xiaomi 12, which is expected to arrive later this month. Since this is the company's high-end phone we are talking about, we can expect the GT 2 Pro to bring advanced features such as a high refresh-rate OLED display and top-level cameras. In fact, a big chunk of rumours say there may be a 108-megapixel camera on the backside of the Realme GT 2 Pro, so, clearly, it will be a flagship worth waiting for.
