SanDisk's first wireless charger can also store your phone's data for automatic backups

SanDisk has introduced its first-ever portfolio of wireless chargers in the country. One of the chargers come with a capability of transferring data from a device wirelessly for an easy data backup every day.

Story highlights
  • New SanDisk wireless chargers have been launched at a starting price of Rs 1,999.
  • The chargers promise up to 15W wireless charging.
  • The flagship product also claims data backup capability for multiple profiles.

Western Digital has entered the wireless charging segment with the launch of its SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync. Interestingly, Western Digital's new product will not just be its first wireless charger. It will also be able to data store automatically. This will help its users backup their data on Qi-compatible devices wirelessly, hence avoiding regular manual backups.

Alongside, the company has introduced a more affordable SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger 15W with an adapter. The wireless charger is meant to deliver up to 15W fast charging. It comes bundled with a SanDisk AC Adaptor and USB Type-C cable. The charger also features a soft rubber ring to help protect the phones you put on charging from slipping.

As for the flagship entry product, Western Digital claims that the SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync is able to deliver up to 10W of power with fast charging. It comes bundled with a power plug and cable to enable charging. The USP, however, lies with the device's ability to transfer and store data through Qi connectivity from a device.

The company says that the SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync can automatically back up photos and videos in full resolution, as well as contacts from a device. Users simply have to place their phones on it, as on a wireless charger and the data will be transferred wirelessly.

A big plus is the fact that the charger-cum-storage product supports multiple backup profiles. This means multiple users can use the device to store their data while charging. It can hence cater to a family both as a charger and as a data backup option at separate times in a day.

The limit, of course, is defined by the storage capacity on the SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync. It comes with a local storage of 256GB and can hence hold as much data for backup. The capacity should be sufficient for a couple of smartphone users at the least.

Both the Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync and Ixpand Wireless Charger 15W are compatible with iPhone 8 and upper models, Samsung Galaxy S7 and above, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and above, AirPods Pro, and other Qi-compatible smartphones. The company claims that both the wireless chargers are designed for protection through temperature control, foreign object detection, and adaptive charging that help keep the phone battery safe.

As for their prices, the new Ixpand Wireless Charger Sync is available now for Rs 9,999. The Ixpand Wireless 15W Fast Charger with QC 3.0 Adapter has been priced at a much humble price point of Rs 2,999. Just the Ixpand Wireless Charger 15W is available for Rs 1,999.

Both the SanDisk Ixpand wireless chargers are backed by a two-year limited warranty. They are available for purchase on Amazon.in, Croma, Poorvika and other leading mobile stores in the country.
