Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 faces a tough test at the box office

The newly released Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 goes into the weekend amid a tough fight for box office collections with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, the comedy drama starring the Deol clan, Dharmendra with sons Sunny and Bobby, hit the screens on Friday and initial reports say that it is doing particularly well in the northern region.

However, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is continuing its good spell at the domestic box office, collecting around Rs 7 crore on Friday, slightly lower than the estimated Rs 7.5 crore earned by Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 on the same day.

This takes Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani's total earnings in its eight days to nearly Rs 115 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a tweet on Saturday said, "#YehJawaaniHaiDeewani [2nd Week] Fri 7 cr. Total: 114.61 cr."

Despite competition from Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is expected to continue its good run at the box office.

According to estimates, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is likely to do a overall business of around Rs 175 crore. (Figures: BoxofficeIndia.com)
