Retail FDI: Traders calls all-India bandh on Dec 1
Traders' association CAIT has called for a nation-wide bandh on December 1 to protest the government's decision to allow 51 per cent foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail .

"To lodge their strong protest against FDI in retail trade, CAIT and Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal have called a Bharat Vyapar Bandh on December 1," Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said in a statement.

The Union Cabinet on Thursday allowed 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail and 100 per cent FDI in single-brand retail.

The government today came under attack in Parliament from ally Trinamool Congress and the opposition, but asserted that opening the sector will create over 10 million jobs in three years and also contain inflation.
