- Realme will launch a new smartphone series called Q3.
- Realme Q3 smartphones will arrive in China initially.
- Realme may launch the Q3 series phones in India after rebranding.
Realme has confirmed a new smartphone series for the home market. It is called Q3, and it is an upgrade over last-generation's Q2 line-up. The new Q3 series will bring a "balance of performance and price", according to Realme vice president Wang Wei Derek, who took to Weibo to make the announcement. And while he made all the revelations, the Realme official said that the Q3 series will not match the level of Realme GT phones. This means you are looking at phones that will find their way to the mid-range.
Right now, there is nothing clear about the specifications of the Realme Q3 series. So we have to rely on what the Realme official is saying right now. That includes specifications that will be suited for moderate users. We could be looking at a mix of LCDs and AMOLEDs with a high refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity processors that will enable 5G connectivity, and 48-megapixel and 64-megapixel camera systems. Nearly all Realme phones in the mid-range come with fast charging tech, so you can expect 30W, 50W, or even 65W fast charging.
Realme Q3 series will sit at a lower rung than that of the GT series. And that would show in the type of specifications. Realme executive said that the new GT flagship is a hit because of the aggressive pricing for premium specifications. Since the Realme GT series is available only in China, the executive is talking about the home market. And that is also where the upcoming Q3 series will sell. The new Q-series will focus on budget and mid-range customers largely.
There are some smartphone series from Realme that remain exclusive to China, at least as far as the naming is concerned. This also means that the upcoming Realme Q3 series may arrive in India, although with a different name. Realme has a glorious past of renaming phones for different markets, so it would not be a surprise if the Q3 series joins the renaming fray. And while that is possible, there is no information about when that will happen. There is no clarity on the launch date of the Realme Q3 series in China, let alone its India launch.
In other news, Realme has announced that the Realme 8 5G smartphone will arrive in India on April 22. The smartphone is going to be the first one to pack a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor that will bring 5G capabilities. The phone will have a 90Hz display and fast charging on the battery. We will know more about the Realme 8 5G in the next few days until the launch on April 22.
